The application operates on a straightforward principle, featuring a loop recorder with two loops. As one loop is recorded, the other plays back in synchronization, yielding seamless transitions between them. With three separate outputs capable of playing back the recorded loop at varying pitches and applying individual effects, along with two automation generators, the mix is then treated with convolution reverb. This reverb module offers a selection of elongated and immersive sound spaces, resulting in a lush and atmospheric auditory experience.

Its standout feature lies in the meticulously crafted parameters that facilitate extensive sound manipulation using diverse source materials, whether from live instruments or synthesized audio. With just two parameters, users can introduce intricate rhythmic structures based on Euclidean rhythms and leverage user-friendly automation generators featuring a randomization function to introduce sonic variations. Moreover, the convolution reverb boasts advanced settings for tailoring and expanding the original reverb environments.

Even when utilizing the randomization feature, users can consistently achieve captivating and diverse soundscapes and textures. This functionality streamlines the creation of unique presets with minimal adjustments required to achieve remarkable results.

The loop recorder can be initiated and halted manually or by an input signal, allowing users to select fixed length recording or overwrite modes while providing a crossfade option between loop start and end points. These features enhance its versatility for both live performances and studio processing tasks. Additionally, an exclusive mode allows the application to function as a direct effect without engaging the loop recorder.

The dedicated Sampler panel facilitates swift loading of samples and intuitive application control during live performances. Featuring input and output controls, fundamental loop recorder settings, and a prominent recording counter for managing recording processes, users can assign up to nine samples for effortless loading into the loop. Furthermore, saved recorded loops can be stored as samples or exported to external files.

SpaceFields is a versatile tool compatible with iOS and macOS platforms, offering support for iPhones, iPads, as well as Macs powered by M1 chips or newer models. It functions as a standalone application on iOS devices or integrates seamlessly as an Audio Unit or Inter-App Audio module. Moreover, it supports popular music production protocols such as Audiobus and Ableton Link. On macOS systems, SpaceFields can be utilized independently or within DAWs as an Audio Unit (AUv3) plugin with various hosts like Ableton Live, Logic Pro, GarageBand, and more. All features are accessible across iOS and macOS versions, including comprehensive MIDI support with MIDI learn functionality and the ability to import samples from any directory on the device.
